This early Dufaycolor documentary from Humphrey Jennings focuses on an August harvest in Sawston, Cambridgeshire. The old makes way for the new as the trusty old scythe bows down to the horse-drawn binder and plough. Hard work, flat caps and pipes abound as we see the workers downing midday ale for sustenance and taking a break at 5 to sit in the fields for a cup of tea brought to them by their wives. The ‘playground of the town’ and ‘workshop of the country’, alias the great British countryside, has never looked better.

El Último Paisajista de Gonzalo Ballester

El cineasta murciano Gonzalo Ballester gana dos nuevos premios por su último corto documental, ‘The Molky Way’. El pasado sábado 24 de octubre se alzó con el galardón al mejor documental en el festival bilbaíno ENKARZINE y con el segundo premio en el FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CORTOMETRAJES DE TEMÁTICA SOCIAL DE BERRIOZAR en Navarra.
Además de estos festivales de carácter nacional, ‘The Molky Way’ acaba de participar en el ISMAILIA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL FOR DOCUMENTARY & SHORT FILMS de Egipto y será el único corto español en competición en el OFF CINEMA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL de Polonia, que tendrá lugar del 18 al 22 de noviembre.
‘The Molky Way’ es el retrato de una mujer iraní de 73 años, viuda desde hace 14, que vive sola en una humilde casa de Baragún (Irán). El documental, de 25 minutos de duración, narra el viaje de Molky a la ciudad de Isfahán, con la excusa de visitar a unos familiares que no ve desde hace más de 20 años.
El corto se empezó a distribuir este año y ya suma 6 premios y más de 40 selecciones en festivales de países como Reino Unido, Canadá, Turquía, Alemania, México o Estados Unidos.
Gonzalo Ballester es un joven cineasta murciano que cuenta con una importante trayectoria en el arte del documental, con reconocidas obras como ‘La Serenissima’, ‘Mimoune’ o ‘El último paisajista’ entre otras.
